For well over nine centuries, our church has stood at the heart of Stiffkey where it has been shaped, repaired and sustained by the dedication of generations of local people.
From the skilled stonemasons who first raised its flint walls and carved its stonework, to the craftsmen and parishioners who restored windows, repaired roofs and cared for the churchyard, its survival has always depended upon the support of the community it serves.
Today, that tradition continues. Stiffkey Church relies entirely upon voluntary donations and the generosity of supporters for its ongoing upkeep and preservation.
The maintenance of an ancient building beside the North Norfolk coast is a constant task: flintwork and stone require careful conservation, the tiled and leaded roofs and rainwater goods must withstand the weather rolling in from the marshes and the sea, and the churchyard itself must be maintained for both wildlife and visitors alike.
Every contribution, however small, helps ensure that this remarkable building remains not only a place of worship, but also a living part of the village’s history and identity — a place where future generations may continue to gather, reflect and enjoy the beauty and peace of the Stiffkey Valley.

- Help within the church – Volunteers are always required to assist with the care of the church interior, whether through cleaning, flower arranging, polishing brass, preparing the building for services and events, or helping with the many small tasks that keep the church welcoming and cared for throughout the year. Every contribution of time and effort is greatly appreciated.
- Help care for the churchyard – The environs of the churchyard are maintained entirely through voluntary effort. All mowing, strimming, pruning and general upkeep — together with the fuel, tools and equipment required to do this are provided by voluntary contributions. Additional help, practical assistance or donations towards these equipment and maintenance costs are always needed and deeply valued.
- Help with fundraising and events – Fundraising plays a vital role in preserving the church for future generations. Whether helping to organise village events, supporting concerts and exhibitions, assisting with refreshments, promoting activities, or contributing ideas and enthusiasm, volunteers are essential to the life of our church and the wider community that it serves.
